In September 2026, Notion users started posting emails saying that discounted pricing on their accounts was coming to an end.
For some, the increase is substantial. One user reported their annual bill going from $96 to $240. Others had previously been moved from Plus + AI to the Business plan while keeping their old price and are now being told that future renewals will use the standard Business rate.
The changes follow a broader overhaul of Notion's pricing and AI plans over the past year. Here is what changed in 2026, who is affected, and what existing users can expect at renewal.
What changed with Notion pricing?
| Date | What changed |
|---|---|
| May 2025 | Notion introduced new plans with its main AI features included in Business and Enterprise. |
| Late 2025 | Some existing Plus customers with the old AI add-on were moved to Business while keeping their previous price. |
| May 2026 | Custom Agents began using paid Notion credits on Business and Enterprise. |
| September 2026 | Users began receiving emails saying that existing discounted pricing would end at a future renewal. |
In May 2025, Notion bundled its main AI features into the Business and Enterprise plans. Existing users who already paid separately for the old AI add-on needed a transition path. By late 2025, some Plus + AI customers were being moved to Business without an immediate increase. A November 2025 r/Notion post shared an email saying that the user's AI add-on would be upgraded to Business at their current price.
The next pricing change arrived in 2026. Starting May 4, Custom Agents moved to a credit model. Notion currently charges $10 per 1,000 credits for Custom Agent usage on top of a Business or Enterprise subscription. Other core Notion AI features remain included in those plans.
Then came the September emails. In a September 24 thread, a former Plus + AI customer said the discounted Business rate they received during the migration was ending and their bill would almost double.
Who is affected by the 2026 pricing changes?
The clearest group is former Plus + AI customers who were moved to Business at a discounted price. When Notion removed the old AI add-on, some of these users kept roughly the same total price after moving to Business. The recent emails say that discount is now ending and their subscription will eventually move to standard Business pricing.
There are also reports involving other old discounts. On September 28, a long-time user with a reduced subscription posted an email saying their price would increase from $11.99 to $24 per month at their December renewal. Their account history was different from the Plus + AI migration, so the two changes should not be treated as the same plan. The Reddit post describes a paid account dating back to 2018.
Older legacy plans also still appear to exist. Users in the September discussions reported retaining older rates, and Notion has not published an announcement saying that every legacy subscription will move to current pricing.
How much will Notion cost now?
Notion's current public pricing lists the following rates with annual billing:

| Plan | Price |
|---|---|
| Free | $0 |
| Plus | $10 per seat/month |
| Business | $20 per seat/month |
| Enterprise | Custom pricing |
For Business, that works out to $240 per year per seat. One user who had been paying $96 per year reported being moved to the $240 annual price.
A Notion support email shared in September says one affected discount ends on December 1, 2026, but the higher price applies at the account's next eligible renewal. Your billing date will determine when the increase actually reaches you.

What to do if your Notion price is changing
Start with the renewal details in your own account. The recent reports cover several old pricing arrangements, and the date in the email may differ from the date of your next higher charge.
- Check your billing settings. Look at your current plan, renewal date, billing interval, and the amount shown for the next renewal.
- Compare the plan below yours. Notion explains what happens when you downgrade in its downgrade guide. For someone who ended up on Business mainly because of the old AI migration, Plus may now cover enough of what they use.
- Export important content before cancelling. Notion provides workspace export tools, so you can keep a copy before making a larger change.
- Compare alternatives while the existing workspace is still active. Databases and other Notion-specific workflows can take more effort to migrate, so check the features you rely on before choosing another tool.
If the new price changes the equation for you, there are many Notion alternatives aimed at different types of work.
Nuclino is a simpler, faster alternative to Notion, with less setup and a much shorter learning curve. It brings docs, wikis, projects, and collaborative whiteboards together in one lightweight workspace.
Nuclino also keeps AI pricing relatively simple. The Nuclino MCP integration is available on all plans, so you can connect tools such as ChatGPT or Claude to your Nuclino content without paying for a separate Nuclino AI add-on. Any subscription costs for the external AI tool are separate.
Sidekick, Nuclino's built-in AI assistant, has limited access on all plans, while the full version is included in the Business plan. There is no separate Sidekick add-on or credit package to purchase.
